Web Application Demo Videos
for CodeGeek
CodeGeek, a website design and development agency, working with Rebecca Gilmore of Gilchek Creative, wanted videos of their powerful web applications to showcase to prospective clients.
Why create project demos?
These demos walk a client through the story of the clients’ needs and how CodeGeek was able to meet those needs through cleverly and strategically designed web app features.
This project was completely a team effort:
A CodeGeek project manager recorded walkthroughs of the web applications and also provided the voice overs (VOs).
CodeGeek’s designer made the intro and exit slides.
Rebecca drafted the summary bullet points that show up after the initial intro slide and also provided me with the creative direction for the videos.
I designed the animated shading of the intro slide to allow the bullet points to be easily read, selected the background music, and edited the audio and screen capture recordings.
A problem we solved together: How to slow down a too-fast recording?
When Rebecca sent me the original recordings, she noted that the VOs were faster than she’d like, but recording new VOs was not an option.
To make the demo flow more smoothly and calmly, I broke up the clips of the audio and screen recordings.
I also slowed down the scrolling on-screen.
I then sourced unobtrusive upbeat music to give the videos a more calm feel.
In addition, Rebecca and I decided to add in a second slide before the demo providing bullet points of what the demos would cover. This offers viewers a short breather to read through what is about to happen before the VO begins—and to take in what the speaker was explaining more easily.
CodeGeek loves these short-and-sweet web app demos, and they will be shared in the company newsletter, on their website (blog and portfolio pages), and on social media through YouTube.
